Bay Area Legal Services' Calli Burnett Awarded Outstanding Government/Non-Profit Lawyer Award

Calli Burnett accepts Outstanding Government/Non-Profit Lawyer Award

On January 16, Bay Area Legal Services attorney Calli Burnett was awarded the Outstanding Government/Non-Profit Lawyer Award for her unwavering dedication and leadership in the Hillsborough County Bar Association and legal community.

Calli manages the Hillsborough County Housing Stability Program in addition to handling her caseload of clients facing eviction or termination from subsidized housing programs at Bay Area Legal.

During COVID-19, she developed the Florida Attorneys Counseling on Evictions program, which helped mentor volunteer lawyers to represent clients facing eviction due to COVID-19. Calli has also served as the HCBA Young Lawyers Division Pro Bono Committee Chair for the last three years, bringing innovative ideas to the annual Pro Bono Luncheon, which aims at inspiring young lawyers to engage in Pro Bono work.

Calli is a shining example of Bay Area Legal Services’ mission of providing pathways to justice. Her contributions are invaluable, and we are fortunate to have her in our community. Congratulations, Calli, on this well-deserved recognition!
